Soundwave is pleased to present Scrimshire and his live band for a set featuring some of the sharpest music released this past year!
Its been a long journey for this young producer and mutli-instrumentalist, ever since his grandad introduced him to an Errol Garner record when he was 14. Scrimshire’s sound is steeped in jazz, soul and funk, but with a nod to contemporary sounds, and with strong popular song writing sensibilities.
As a singer-songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist, DJ and now label boss at Wah Wah, Adam wears a good few hats. But above all, this man knows how to write a tune!!
Scrimshire’s debut album Along Came The Devil One Night… came out in 2009 and is now followed by the mesmerising sounds of The Hollow.
“Adam Scrimshire is known to many as a producer, musician and DJ, having delivered a number of singles over the years for Wah Wah 45s. ‘Along Came The Devil One Night…’ is his first full length release and it undoubtedly demonstrates that he is an artist deserving of a bigger stage. Scrimshire has taken all his musical influences in jazz, soul, Latin and folk to craft a record filled with great melodic tunes and an array of talented vocalists to propel them to greater heights. Let’s start with ‘The Low Road’, a lovely track that fuses elements of jazz and pop and is aided by the husky voice of Rob Hynd. The title track is a wonderful instrumental filled with tango influences and warm string arrangements. ‘Springtime’ is a lush, eloquent jazzy number that features the beautiful voice of Claire Laurent. The disc finishes up with the folk flavored “I Have Come to You” which features Stac. I was a little disappointed that there were only nine tracks here. One can’t complain when every track embodies superb compositions, gorgeous songwriting and talented musicians to match. Simply put, this record is a flat out winner.”

“It’s lovely down at the Hollow with Adam Scrimshire. You get to listen to all sorts of beautiful and mesmerising music accompanied by some great singers and even a brass band. With this album, Scrimshire has managed to create an collection of diverse songs with a common vibe – one that is both soulful and sombre, sexy and sultry. We love the more laid back tracks such as ‘Afar’ and ‘Ode To Daddy’, as well as the big beats and soft voice (provided by long-time Meme favourite Stac) of ‘Alignment’. The more upbeat tracks, such as the single ‘Home’, are good but don’t seem to have the longevity of the others. In fact those atmospheric tracks in particular are real growers (and therefore more durable) so that each will require, and deserve, a good few listens before they really get under your skin. Throughout though, it is obvious this album was made with love and care, and you can positively sense the intensity of feeling in each of the songs.”
