Having drawn comparisons to Portishead, St.Germain and even Groove Armada, there is no question that the Heroes debut album “Meanwhile” is an exciting, eclectic and fresh journey over different tempos, incorporating live instrumentation, deep jazz roots and organic soul nourishing goodness. Radio 1s worldwide tastemaker Gilles Peterson who’s heavily supported them on his show, recently described them as a “Jazzier Zero 7″ and went on to say “I highly rate them, watch out for them”.
They are currently working on two more albums, featuring the likes of long time co-writer Laura Vane (MJ Cole/Vipertones/Tru Thoughts, The Streets) and new addition Aisling Stephenson (Roots Manuva/Unique Uncut).
Live they have graced the stage at the BIG CHILL festival, rocked London’s Cargo and YoYo, Jazz Cafe and KoKo. In addition to this they’ve recently turned out a superb BBC Maida Vale live session on Gilles ‘Worldwide show’, earning them TWO nominations at the 2006 GP Worldwide Awards.
Their Soundsystem show explodes with energy, featuring the turntable skills and a party style you’ve come to expect from the likes of The Nextmen but with the addition of live horns.
