Soundwave is proud to present a DJ set from Metronomy bassist Olugbenga. His style draws upon elements of contemporary Nigerian music, left field electronica, gospel, pop, rock and hip hop from around the world.
Olugbenga cut his teeth as one of the vocalists in dubstep/folk outfit Various Production, whose 2006 album for XL Recordings was one of the first dubstep releases to sell in five figures. He was soon recruited into Metronomy and embarked on a worldwide tour. Metronomy were featured prominently in the BBC’s coverage of the Glastonbury and Reading Festivals as well as being invited by the panel of the Mercury Music Prize to perform a special session that was broadcast on Channel 4.
His reputation as a remix artist and DJ is rapidly growing – a mixtape of original material and official remixes, ‘The G is Silent [VOLUME TWO]’, is out now.
