Seamlessly weaving strands of Stravinsky, the murky groove of DJ Shadow and the intensity conjured by a coven of instrumentalists combining acoustic melodies, dubby basslines, live percussion and organic samples, the Hidden Orchestra defies categorisation.
Their debut effort “Night Walks” has been critically acclaimed: studio enhanced beats and live instrumentation are deftly united under the steady hand of classically trained band-leader Joe Acheson. These are loping, smoky melodies and eclectic meanderings underpinned throughout with an intense darkness.
The band have previously won the indie/ rock band-dominated T-Break competition to play at T in the Park, while simultaneously being listed by Radio Scotland in the A-Z of the Greatest Scottish Jazz Artists of all time. The Hidden Orchestra are truly one of the UK’s most unique and up-and-coming outfits.
