Born Obaro Ejimiwe and raised somewhere between London, Coventry, Nigeria and Dominica, Obaro admits that his heritage is important to him, but that it hasn’t consciously affected his musical career. In February 2011, Ghostpoet launched his first album “Peanut Butter Blues & Melancholy Jam”, which was nominated for the Mercury Prize ’2011 Albums of the Year. Dubbing himself “a lad with a lisp with some stories to tell”, the truth is a bit more complex, as hinted by the record’s tricksy, somewhat over-self-aware title.

He is currently working on his second album, to be released in 2013 on PIAS Recordings.
