Their first release “3 Feet High and Rising” is considered one of the most innovative and widely successful hip hop albums. A collage of bouncing beats, quirky samples and deft rhymes championing peace and harmony – values forgotten in the wake of the gangster rap boom – it was hailed as ingenious and revolutionary.

Subsequent releases “De La Soul is Dead”, “Buhloone Mindstate, “Stakes is High”, “Art Official Intelligence: Mosaic Thump”, “AOI: Bionix” and “The Grind Date” have cemented the trio at the forefront of alternative hip hop.

He hasn’t looked back, releasing full length albums “Distance and Time”, “Sort of Revolution” and “Perfect Darkness”. His acoustic finger-picking, bluesy voice and tight live rhythm section have become hallmarks of his sound – enhanced by the ghostly atmospherics learned over the course of his career.

Fink has collaborated with John Legend, Professor Green, Amy Winehouse and Bonobo. He has supported Zero 7 and his songs have been featured in a myriad of television programmes.

Yoda’s inimitable style and talent are unquestionable: career highlights include winning the Contemporary Classical Album of 2009 at the Independent Music Awards for the Heritage Orchestra feat DJ Yoda’s G. Prokofiev Concerto For Turntables & Orchestra, producing an hour-long music documentary for BBC Radio 1’s 40th birthday and performing with the likes of Mark Ronson, Amy Winehouse, Fatboy Slim and Lily Allen.

Still basking in the unmitigated success of their much lauded and brilliant “Scintilli” LP on Warp Records in late 2011 and a sold out show at Village Underground, Soundwave is proud to present the legendary PLAID for a performance focused on their superb audiovisual work. Featuring classic tracks as well as more recent output this legendary production duo haven’t lost an ounce of relevance and still continue to influence music producers around the world with their lush soundscapes and restrained but demolishing beats.

Ghostpoet’s sleepy style owes little to previous generations of British artists: it is a chilled delivery of experimental hip hop with brooding wisdom sharpened by his anxiety. He is joined by vocalist Fabiana Palladino, whose soft lilt contrasts wonderfully with his rough hewn voice. The production carries without hitch into the live environment, where a live band bolsters his sound.

Comprising of Kathrin deBoer (vocals), Ricky Fabulous (guitar) and DJ Modest (decks), this trio has grooves like no other, liberally combining elements of hip hop, blues and turntablism into a mesmerising live show.

The band exploded onto the scene in 2007 with a buzz created entirely by word-of-mouth as their first self-produced release quickly sold out in the UK’s independent record stores. Their cult following grew to the continent, with records having been hand distributed by the band members. They have since been featured on BBC Radio’s Maida Vale sessions and embarked on a 52 week world tour in 2011.

He acquired cult status as Dave Lister on BBC 2′s hugely popular Red Dwarf and has appeared in a myriad of other shows as an actor or presenter, including EastEnders and Robot Wars. Most recently, he has appeared on Coronation Street.

He presents the Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show for BBC 6 Music, where he explores the past, present and future of the genres. His DJ sets are infectious!

His début album Enter was met with critical acclaim, rising to number one on Japan’s indie charts as well as claiming the top spot for single and album on iTunes Dance Charts. He has since turned to production, releasing new material on his own label Endeavor.

They stormed the festival circuit in 2010, performing at The Big Chill, Latitude, Outlook, Bestival and in 2011 released their debut “Finest Hour” to rave reviews. Not surprising, considering the pedigree of the Orchestra’s musicians: several are alumni of the Leeds’ College of Music and all performed for years in other complex projects.

Simply put, this is not dubstep to be taken lightly. Welcome back to Soundwave!
