Oh my days! Very possibly our favourite band in the world! A band we have had the pleasure of presenting in the north & south of the UK on a number of occasions and one that we can only dream about having play on a beautiful peninsular in Croatia to an intimate crowd. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Now, about the band.

The aptly-named Cinematic Orchestra (TCO) were formed by J. Swinscoe back in 1999. At the time Jay was still an employee at Ninja Tune in South London, and while he knocked out Mr. Scruff and Coldcut records to Spain and Scandinavia by day, he began putting together the TCO album in his downtime.

Its now 2010 and a total of 8 studio, live and remix albums has shown TCO to be one of the greatest acts on earth. They are simply amazing.

Zero 7 are a Grammy Award-nominated, downtempo styled musical duo comprising of Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker from the United Kingdom. Contributing artists include vocals from Mozez, Sia Furler, Tina Dico, Sophie Barker, and José González. The guest vocalist lineup for the duo has subsequently included Eska Mtungwazi, Martha Tilston, and Rowdy Superstar for their fourth studio album. Their ‘Another Late Night’ compilation featured the likes of Sylvia Striplin, Slum Village and Leroy Hudson. Expect them to be digging deep into their inspirations old and new for some pure sunshine music.

Gentleman’s Dub Club is a nine-piece band that formed in Leeds in early 2006.  With a style based in dub, ska and roots reggae, GDC have burst onto the UK circuit, rocking gigs and festivals up and down the country with their super high energy show.  Combining tight grooves and a heavyweight sound, Gentleman’s Dub Club bring the party to crowds of all ages hungry for a dance floor workout, with their gigs often ending in a frenzied mosh pit reminiscent of a mid 80’s ska night. Live effects and mixing make for a crystal clear sound, and the band’s larger than life stage presence makes for a mesmerising experience.

In 1979, mikey dread and his , Channel One started playing blues parties and local dances with a sound system passed on to them by their father, Admiral Bailey.  Channel One then began playing at Notting Hill Carnival in 1983 and their reputation and name grew from there.  Inspired by Bob Marley’s ethos of uniting people through reggae music, Mikey Dread was keen to introduce new people to dub reggae music and started touring around universities, where he secured a solid fan base.

Channel One’s mission is to break down barriers via reggae music, they have achieved this by playing new venues, new festivals and different countries, taking their unique sound to Australia, New Zealand, Israel, Turkey and all over Europe.  2009 saw Channel One embark on their hugely successful national Dub to Dubstep Tour, with financial backing from the Arts Council, via Blackroutes and support from Punch and Vagabondz. Channel One took their sound system to 6 cities, touring alongside Kromestar, RSD and Jazzsteppa, with the aim of showcasing their dub reggae sound system as part of the tangible heritage behind dubstep.

Channel One Sound System has a truly heavyweight bass sound which compliments their tight selection of old and new dub reggae classics, all with conscious lyrics.  Mikey Dread adds to his selection with his sirens, -  echoes and effects, MC Ras Kayleb completes the sound with his Rastafarian chants and song.

Toddla T is South Yorkshire’s new bad boy on the block. The young inheritor of the bleepy baton from the likes of Warp, Swag’s Chris Duckenfield, Pipes, original forge master Winston Hazel, he’s the steel cherry riding atop a rich musical heritage for a city that’s always liked it RUFF.

His 40 track Ghettoblaster mixtape (hosted by motor mouth Mr. Versatile) was hailed best mix of the year by FACT magazine (and massively downloaded). His production fingers have delved into the likes of indie peddler Jack Penate, guitaros Jackobinarina and a collaboration with ex-Moloko hot pot, Roisin Murphy.

Soon to be soul super star, Andreya first came to many peoples attention when her collaboration with glitchy hiphop producer Flying Lotus led to the release of the single “Tea Leaf Dancers” on Warp records – cited by many as his finest work. Instantly hailed as a classic it received rave reviews from Gilles Peterson and Benji B whilst also gaining airplay on Annie Mac’s Radio 1 show.

2009 has been an eventful year for Miss Triana, touring America and Canada with the Bonobo live band, playing on the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury showcasing new material and signing a three album deal with Ninja Tune Records.

2010 will see the release of her album Lost Where I Belong, produced by jazzy beat master Bonobo. Fellow Ninja Tune Records singer and superstar songwriter Fink also stepped up to co-write two tracks for the album. Lost Where I Belong is a beautifully honest album combining Soul, Folk, Jazz and Bonobo’s cinematic magic for a highly anticipated and hotly tipped debut… watch out for Andreya Triana!
